Abu Hayder Hits 13 Sixes in an Innings; Which Bangladeshi Holds the Record?
Sylhet, December 09, 2025 –
Abu Hayder delivered a spectacular performance in the National Cricket League, smashing 13 sixes and remaining unbeaten on 141 off 127 balls. Coming in at number eight, the Mymensingh pace all-rounder, popularly known as Rony, reached his second first-class century against Rajshahi after scoring 97 in the first innings against Barishal.
After completing his century off just 90 balls, Hayder continued his dominant innings, hitting four of his 13 sixes on the third day of the match. Between 2016 and 2018, the left-arm pacer represented Bangladesh in 2 ODIs and 13 T20Is, adding further experience to his impressive first-class performance.
In Bangladesh’s first-class cricket history, only two batsmen have hit more sixes in a single innings than Hayder. At the top of the list is Mukhtar Ali, who scored 168 for Rajshahi against Chattogram during the 2013–14 National Cricket League season, hitting 16 sixes to equal the world record alongside Andrew Symonds, Jesse Ryder, and Graham Napier.
Before Mukhtar, the record was held by Ziaur Rahman. On December 27, 2012, during the inaugural Bangladesh Cricket League, Zia smashed 15 sixes while scoring an unbeaten 152 off 118 balls for South Zone against Central Zone at Mirpur.
Prior to Zia, Tamim Iqbal held the record. On November 2, 2012, playing for Chattogram against Sylhet at BKSP, Tamim struck 12 sixes on his way to 183 runs, becoming the first Bangladeshi batsman to hit double-digit sixes in a first-class innings.
Abu Hayder’s innings has now placed him among the elite few in Bangladesh’s cricket history, showcasing his power-hitting and all-round capabilities in the domestic circuit.
