BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has taken oath as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and top BJP leaders attended the grand ceremony. A major political change has taken place in West Bengal after the defeat of Trinamool Congress.

West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has taken oath as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal. The oath-taking ceremony, organized on the special occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, created a significant stir in the state’s political arena. The presence of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several top political leaders from the central government and various states made the event even more remarkable.

A short while before the ceremony began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the oath venue. He was seen in an open-roof special vehicle alongside newly appointed Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya. The three leaders waved to the gathered crowd, creating a festive atmosphere.

As the day marked Rabindra Jayanti, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the portrait of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore by offering flowers at the beginning of the ceremony. The official proceedings then commenced with the national anthem.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was already present at the venue before the event started. Also seen on the stage were BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and JP Nadda.

Chief Ministers from various Indian states also attended the ceremony. Among them were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Bihar leader Samrat Choudhary, and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Former Union Minister Smriti Irani, MLA Agnimitra Paul, and actor Mithun Chakraborty were also present, along with many senior BJP leaders from both the central and state units. Distinguished guests from Kolkata and different parts of the country also attended, making the event more prominent. BJP workers and supporters from every district of the state gathered in large numbers.

In the recent Assembly elections, the long-ruling Trinamool Congress was defeated, leading to a major political change in West Bengal. As a result, Suvendu Adhikari, once a close associate of Mamata Banerjee and now the leader of the BJP legislative party, assumed office as the Chief Minister, replacing her.

The previous evening, Suvendu Adhikari visited Raj Bhavan and met Governor R.N. Ravi along with BJP state leaders. During the meeting, he submitted an official letter seeking permission to form the government, signed by 207 newly elected MLAs.

Earlier, a legislative meeting of BJP’s 207 victorious MLAs was held at the Convention Centre in New Town, Kolkata, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah was present. After the meeting, Suvendu Adhikari was officially declared as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.
